“Dungeon Flow is the best random dungeon generator I’ve ever used, and I’ve used a lot of them in my 25+ years playing D&D.”

Yes, especially for D&D 5e, Pathfinder 2e, or Shadowdark GMs who want to keep refining a dungeon after generation. Dungeon Flow supports in-place content and flow edits, saved projects with shareable remix links, and Pro VTT exports with walls, doors, and line of sight. Donjon remains the stronger fit for a quick roll with deep pre-generation controls or one of its legacy-system generators.
Not quite. Donjon is fully free with no signup. Dungeon Flow lets you generate, make basic edits, and export 100 dpi PNGs without an account. A free account adds saves, PDFs, DM references, props, and remixing. Pro is $5/month and adds larger maps, advanced map editing, 300 dpi exports, Foundry import/export, and Universal VTT (.dd2vtt) export.
Donjon hosts many separate generators for names, weather, towns, and more. They are handy, but for dungeons, Dungeon Flow is a single integrated workspace for generating, editing, saving, sharing, and exporting the result.
Both produce a dungeon in seconds. Each involves a quick setup step with different inputs before you generate.
No. Donjon has deep pre-generation settings but no editor afterward, so any change means rolling a whole new dungeon. In Dungeon Flow, flow, content, note, and room-position edits are free; Pro adds direct room reshaping and corridor rerouting.
Yes. An official Foundry module links to your Dungeon Flow account and exports walls, doors, line of sight, and room journals into a scene, with re-import when you update the dungeon. This is a Pro feature. Donjon relies on unofficial JSON importers.
Donjon's Five Room Dungeon Generator is purpose-built for the five-room adventure format, with a map and encounters shaped to that structure. Dungeon Flow can produce five-room layouts along with larger dungeons, then lets you edit, save, share, and export the result.
Donjon has separate generators for AD&D, d20/3.5, Pathfinder 1e, and D&D 4e, 5e, and 5.5, but not Pathfinder 2e or Shadowdark. Dungeon Flow supports D&D 5e, Pathfinder 2e, and Shadowdark with system-aware encounters, traps, and treasure.
Donjon's dungeon maps are functional, with several utilitarian styles locked in at generation. Dungeon Flow offers multiple map styles, including a hand-drawn aesthetic, Old School Blue, and more. You can change the style on a saved dungeon without changing the layout.
